Taming The Remodeling Beast: Making It Simpler

Maximize Your Kitchen Space For Better Organization: What You Can Do

When you remodel your kitchen, you're usually remodeling for a few different reasons. One of those may be due to aesthetics, and the other reason may be for more storage to give you more space to organize your belongings. If you are undergoing kitchen remodeling, you should consider some of the space-saving ideas below to maximize your space. Read on for a few ideas you should use.

Skip The Lazy Susan

The corner cabinet can be used in a few different ways. Some people prefer the lazy Susan, which allows you to turn a shelf in order to find everything in the cabinet. Some prefer to have this as a wide-open space with shelves, although it can be difficult to reach all the way in the back of this cabinet for what you're looking for. Another idea, which can allow you to use this cabinet while allowing you total access to the cabinet, is to add drawers instead of a door, with shelves inside. A corner cabinet with drawers of different sizes can give you complete access to this cabinet that you can use for a number of different things. Deeper drawers can be used for storage bowls and lids, or a smaller drawer can be used for your utensils.

Adjustable Shelving

Make sure you can adjust your shelves to allow for better storage. If you aren't able to move your shelves to allow for larger items, you may have some wasted space. Be sure when your cabinets are installed that you can make adjustments to the shelves to store larger items such as tall glasses, or small appliances that you don't necessarily want on your kitchen counter or elsewhere in your kitchen.

Use Your Island

Use your kitchen island for storage. Don't just install an island without being able to add a cabinet or storage capability. Use this space, not just as an extra area for food preparation, but use it for storage as well. This is a good space to use for smaller appliances or the non-everyday items you don't want cluttering your other cabinets. You can add narrow cabinets so it doesn't add too much bulk to your island to store smaller items such as cleaning supplies.

If you are going to be remodeling your kitchen, be sure to update the aesthetics and give yourself more space for storing your belongings as well. Talk to your kitchen remodeler about what other things you can do to maximize your storage space.
